The Why: Breaking the Silos of 2026
For years, I lived a fragmented life. My digital identity was scattered across islands:
- Movies on Letterboxd
- Books on Goodreads
- Games on Backloggd
- TV on Trakt
Every medium had its own wall. Every stat lived in a different universe. It felt ridiculous that in 2026, there was still no single place to track your entire entertainment life. So I built one.
The Data: What the World is Searching For
When I started researching, Google autocomplete showed me a hidden truth. People aren’t just looking for “trackers” they are looking for the Letterboxd experience applied to everything else.
I saw the searches stacking up:
- “Letterboxd for games”
- “Letterboxd for music”
- “Letterboxd for books”
- “Letterboxd for anime”
- “Letterboxd for shows”
People want the visual, social, and emotional ritual of logging, but they want it in one unified home. They want a cross-platform media diary that feels like a story, not a spreadsheet.
What is SocialCritiq? (The Unified Home)
SocialCritiq is built around an emotional model. It’s one profile, one feed, and one set of stats for your entire world.
| Feature | The SocialCritiq Difference |
|---|---|
| Unified Logging | Track movies, shows, games, books, anime, and music in one click. |
| Social Universe | See a cross-media feed of what your friends are actually consuming. |
| Pete the Companion | A mascot that grows with your collection, adding a “world-building” layer. |
| Cinematic UI | High-fidelity interactions designed for the “Letterboxd for everything” fan. |
The Solo Founder Journey: 8 Months of Design
I didn’t want to build a clinical tool; I wanted to build something authored. As a solo dev, I spent eight months perfecting the UI design, the branding, and the philosophy behind Pete. I wanted to bridge the gap between “just an app” and a community.
Join the Journey on Product Hunt & Kickstarter
I’m currently sharing the build journey on YouTube and preparing for our Product Hunt launch. We are building a world for the people who have been searching for a “Letterboxd for everything.”
